Terms of use

Last updated: October 28, 2026 · v2026-10-28

These terms govern the use of Flicker Inn. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 16 or older and that you accept them.

The service

Flicker Inn is an online role-playing game: a Game Master (GM) run by artificial intelligence tells the story and reacts to what your hero does. You can play alone or with others, in official adventures or in adventures made by members.

The service is in open beta. It changes often; some features may change, be limited or be temporarily unavailable.

Flicker Inn is operated from France by the publisher of Flicker Inn.

Your account

You must be 16 or older to create an account. Adult content is only available to members who confirm they are 18 or older and turn it on themselves.

Use a valid e-mail address: it confirms your account, lets you recover access and, if you wish, brings you notifications. Keep your password to yourself; two-step sign-in is available in the settings.

You are responsible for what is done from your account.

Plans and limits

Access to the game depends on your account’s plan, described on the Plans page (turns, pictures, voice, translation…). No payment is requested in the service at this time.

To protect the service, the number of turns per minute and per day is limited. These limits may change.

You can link your own key from an AI provider. Turns played with it are billed by that provider, on your account with them; message checks and these terms still apply. Spending on your key is between you and your provider: Flicker Inn is not responsible for it. We recommend limiting the key’s budget and lifetime with your provider.

What the AI tells

The GM and the other helpers (pictures, voice, translation) are produced automatically. It is fiction: the text may be inaccurate, inconsistent or surprising. Never rely on it for real advice (health, law, money, safety).

You can correct the GM, go back or delete a message at any time during a game.

Your creations

You keep the rights to what you write: messages, heroes, notes, adventures. You allow us to store, display and process them as far as needed to run the game: send them to the AI provider on each turn, show them to the members of your group games, and to the people you share a link or an adventure with.

The official adventures, their texts, pictures and the software belong to the publisher and may not be copied outside the service.

Rules of conduct

The following are forbidden, in your messages and in your creations:

  • any sexual content involving minors, without exception, even fictional;
  • harassment, threats or hatred aimed at real people or groups;
  • illegal content, or content that infringes the rights of others (privacy, copyright);
  • getting around the limits, the message checks or security, abusive automation and reselling access.

Checks and warnings

Some messages are checked automatically to spot clearly forbidden content. Such a message may be refused and lead to a warning, shown in your settings, which you can contest.

At the third active warning, the account is paused until our team reviews it. The team may also suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Deletion

A game or adventure you delete disappears at once for you and your players. It stays 30 days in the team’s trash so it can be restored, then it is erased. An administrator can keep an item longer.

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account yourself in Settings › Account › Your data. The privacy policy explains what is erased and what remains.

Liability

We do our best to keep the service running and your games safe, but cannot guarantee that there will be no interruption or loss. Within the limits allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect damage related to the use of the service.

Changes and governing law

If these terms change significantly, the new version will be shown at your next visit and you will need to accept it to continue.

These terms are governed by French law. If we disagree, please write to us first: we will look for an amicable solution. Otherwise, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the protective rules you benefit from as a consumer.
